Anjappar Sabudana Tapioca Large 500g is a premium quality large-grade sabudana (sago) — the essential Indian pantry staple used in a wide range of traditional dishes, from the beloved sabudana khichdi to creamy sabudana kheer and crispy sabudana vada. Made from the starch of the cassava (tapioca) root, these large, round, pearlescent sago pearls are prized for their superior texture — they soak up flavours beautifully and cook to a satisfying, slightly chewy consistency that smaller grades cannot match. Anjappar Sabudana Tapioca Large is the preferred choice for those who want the best results in their fasting foods and everyday Indian recipes.
Sabudana holds a special place in Indian cuisine — it is one of the most important ingredients consumed during Hindu fasting days (vrat), including Navratri, Ekadashi, Mahashivratri, and other religious observances. The large pearl variety is particularly valued for sabudana khichdi and vada, where the bigger pearls hold their shape better during cooking and provide a more satisfying bite. Anjappar Sabudana Tapioca Large 500g is now available at DesiBasket for delivery across Germany and Europe.

Naturally gluten-free. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Please refer to the product packaging for the most up-to-date information. Store away from moisture to prevent clumping.
This product is manufactured in India. India is one of the world’s largest producers of tapioca (cassava), with major cultivation in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. Anjappar Sabudana Tapioca Large is processed in facilities that specialise in producing high-quality sago pearls for both domestic consumption and export, ensuring consistent size, purity, and cooking performance.
Before cooking, Anjappar Sabudana Tapioca Large 500g must be soaked. Rinse the pearls under cold water, then soak in just enough water to cover them (the water should be absorbed, not pooled) for 4–6 hours or overnight. The pearls are ready when they are soft, swollen, and can be pressed flat between your fingers without a hard centre. Proper soaking is the key to perfect results.
Soak and drain the sabudana, then mix with mashed potato, crushed peanuts, green chilli, cumin, and sendha namak. Shape into flat patties and shallow-fry or deep-fry until golden and crispy on both sides. Serve with green chutney or yoghurt.
Store in a cool, dry, airtight container away from moisture and direct sunlight. Sabudana absorbs moisture easily, which can cause clumping. Best consumed within 6–12 months of purchase.
